We're thrilled to announce the launch of Moving Grief Together—an outdoor walking support group starting January 2nd at Meadowbrook Local Park in Maryland.

If grief has been sitting heavy lately—from loss, change, loneliness, or simply carrying too much—you're invited to walk with us.

WHAT IS MOVING GRIEF TOGETHER?

Moving Grief Together offers gentle outdoor walks where you can move, breathe, and be alongside others who understand. This isn't about fixing or rushing through grief. It's about creating space for what's here—both the quiet and the conversation, the stillness and the movement.

Led by our incredible team member Tisha Washington, MSW, LMSW, these walks are grounded in a deep love for nature and a steady presence to hold whatever arises. We'll meet the season as we meet ourselves—just as it is and just as we are.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each walk includes:

  • Introductions to help us arrive together

  • Grounding exercises to center ourselves in the present moment

  • Brief readings that speak to the grief journey

  • Easeful walking at a gentle, accessible pace

  • Optional communal sharing for those who wish to speak

You're welcome to join in whatever way feels right. Walk in silence. Share your story. Listen. Rest when you need to. This space holds room for all of it.

WHY WALKING?

There's something about moving our bodies that helps grief move too. Walking side-by-side—rather than face-to-face—can make it easier to speak difficult truths. The rhythm of our steps, the presence of trees, the fresh air on our faces: these things offer their own kind of comfort.

Nature doesn't ask us to be anything other than what we are. And sometimes, that's exactly what we need.

THE DETAILS

When: Starting January 2nd (recurring group with multiple dates in January)

Where: Meadowbrook Local Park, Maryland

Led by: Tisha Washington, MSW, LMSW

Cost: Donation-based (no one turned away for lack of funds)

Accessibility: Gentle, easeful walking pace

WHO THIS IS FOR

This group is for anyone carrying grief—whether from:

  • The death of a loved one

  • A significant life change or transition

  • Loneliness or isolation

  • The weight of simply carrying too much

  • Any loss that has left you needing space to process

You don't need to be "good at" grief. You don't need to have it figured out. You just need to show up as you are.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR: TISHA WASHINGTON

Tisha brings a deep love for nature and a steady, grounded presence to this work. With training in social work and a commitment to creating accessible grief support, Tisha understands that healing often happens not in offices, but in the spaces where we can breathe deeply and move freely.
