Making Grief a Little Less Lonely: Introducing The Continuum
SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
![]() | Grounded ContinuumA new, accessible space for connection and support starting October 1st.By Katherine Hatch | Founder & Practice Lead |
Hello all,
First and foremost—sending deep warmth and care to each and every one of you.
Whether you are a current client, a former client, or a supportive member of our extended community, I am so very glad our paths have crossed. I am writing today to share something new here. After many years of working in the grief field, I have realized that my primary goal is simple: I want grief to be less lonely. For all of us.
And, creating a space to actually address that isn't something I could do alone. Over the last several months, the Grounded Grief team has collaborated deeply to dream up, design, and build something brand new to meet this need.
To help make our shared goal a reality, we are incredibly excited to announce the launch of Grounded Grief's The Continuum.
The Continuum is a consistent grief group program designed for anyone, no matter where you live, and no matter who or what you are grieving. We wanted to build a nation-wide space for grievers that is expertly facilitated, warmly welcomes all types of loss, and actively builds community and connection.
Our very first cohort begins on October 1st, and we are hoping to welcome 8 to 12 founding members into this space.
Because you are an important part of our community, we have two small asks:
Would you be willing to check it out? Even if you aren't currently seeking support, we would love for you to see what we have built together.
Would you be willing to forward this to just one person? If you know someone in your life who might need a little extra support, a dedicated space to be heard, or a community that understands, it would mean so much to all of us if you shared this with them.
Thank you so much for your time, your support, and your ongoing trust.
If you are looking to be around others who understand, we are offering several ways to connect this month. There is a place for your grief to be witnessed.
Alongside our newly launched Continuum membership, here is what is coming up:
Recurring Community Gatherings: Join us outside for a Moving Grief Together in Maryland (Friday, Oct 2) or Grounded Grief Walk in PDX (Tuesday, Oct 6). If you want an unconventional space to connect, join our Happy Hour for Sad People at Rhinestone in Portland (Monday, October 26).
Specialized Support: We are offering Held Holders, a safe culture and ritual space for helping professionals (Thursday, Oct 8), as well as The Parent Circle (Tuesday, Nov 10).
On-Demand Resources: Explore our recorded video workshops anytime, including the Anticipatory Grief Workshop, the Ambiguous Loss Workshop, and Grief 101: Sitting with Pain (for Mental Health Professionals).
You can find all the details and handy registration links below. With deep appreciation and solidarity,

Grounded Grief Media Highlights
We are always looking for ways to expand the conversation around loss, and we were thrilled when two of our team members were recently invited to share their insights on a two incredible podcasts.
Juniper Wong on Grief Out Loud

Juniper was featured on The Dougy Center’s Grief Out Loud podcast with Jana DeCristofaro, LCSW to explore "the loss that doesn't get a funeral" - ambiguous and ancestral loss.Sometimes grief and how it shows up is obvious. Other times we might not recognize our experience as grief until something shifts our perspective. If you have ever been curious about the philosophy behind our unconventional spaces, this episode is a must-listen!
Alyssa Rose on Breaking Patterns

What if some of what we call burnout is actually grief we haven't learned how to name? Alyssa recently sat down with Skye Nicholson on the Breaking Patterns podcast to discuss the nature of untended grief and burnout. They explore the ways Western culture often asks us to privatize grief, move through it quickly, or save it for a therapist's office—and what becomes possible when grief is instead witnessed, embodied, ritualized, and held in community. It is a beautiful, grounding listen.

Community Care: Supporting Grief Access
We are frequently asked by community members: "How can I help make grief support more accessible in our community?"
We want everyone to have access to high-quality grief therapy, but financial barriers often stand in the way. If you have the capacity to give and wish to help, you can purchase a Community Supporter Badge to pay it forward. Your purchase is used directly to help us increase sliding-scale slots for individual therapy and offer more low-cost, low-barrier grief workshops and groups.

GRIEF IN GOOD HANDS
Grief isn't meant to be navigated in isolation. We're building a space that honors the messy, non-linear, and beautifully human experience of loss and life. Thank you for being part of it.
If this post resonated with you, please forward it to a friend—we appreciate you helping make our community just a wee bit bigger.
