We Are Designed to Grieve in Community

We are glad to announce the start of our In-Person Adult Grief Group in Washington, D.C., beginning Tuesday, February 18th.
If you're navigating the death of someone you love, this group offers a space to be witnessed, supported, and understood by others who know what it's like to carry loss.
Who This Group Is For
This 6 to 10 session grief group is open to anyone navigating a death-loss grief experience.
We welcome the full spectrum of grief experiences, including:
Friend loss
Sibling loss
Parent loss
Child loss
Partner or spousal loss
Family member loss
No matter who you've lost or how long it's been, if you're grieving a death, you belong here.
Why Grieve in Community?
We humans are designed to grieve within and be witnessed by community. While grief is deeply personal, it was never meant to be carried alone.
When we grieve in isolation, the weight can become unbearable. But when we gather with others who understand—who won't try to fix us or rush us or minimize our pain—something shifts. We remember we're not alone. We find language for what felt unspeakable. We discover we can hold both our grief and our life at the same time.
What to Expect
This group will provide:
Grief Education - Understanding what grief is, how it works, and why it affects us the way it does
Grief Processing - Safe, structured space to move through your grief with others
Pragmatic Strategies - Real, usable tools for navigating daily life while grieving
Community - Connection with others who truly get it
Witnessing - The profound experience of being seen and heard in your grief
Meet Your Facilitator: Tatiana Bien-Aime, MSW, LICSW
Tatiana brings a wealth of clinical experience in grief and therapeutic work. She has worked within the school system and other organizations in D.C., including:
D.C. International School
The Wendt Center
The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys
El Mundo Verde
Tatiana understands the complexities of grief and creates a space where all feelings are welcome—the anger, the confusion, the numbness, the waves of sadness, and even the unexpected moments of lightness.

February can be a particularly difficult month for many people grieving—the short, dark days, the proximity to Valentine's Day and other reminders of connection. This might be exactly the right time to find your people and create a container for your grief.
And if you've been thinking about joining a grief group but weren't sure if it was "for you," consider this: grief groups aren't just for people who are "struggling." They're for anyone who wants to honor their loss alongside others, who wants practical support, who wants to feel less alone.
