About the Event
Sometimes grief needs motion. Sometimes it also needs company.
As a therapist with Grounded Grief, Tisha Washington brings a deep love for nature and a steady presence to hold what arises. We’ll meet the season as we meet ourselves—just as it is and just as we are. Layers encouraged.
Each grief walk will include Tisha Washington facilitating introductions, grounding exercises, readings, easeful walking, communal sharing, and no requirement to talk at any time.
You can park near the clubhouse (adjacent to the playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts), and we will gather.
Moving Grief Together FAQs
What is a suggested donation amount? Our group is offered to the community as a way to build connection and places for grief to exist. The cost to run this group for our organization is $30-$55 per person per group. Any amount you can donate towards this is so appreciated.
How do I know if this group is for me? If you are interested in connecting with others and enjoy being outside, this group is for you. If you are curious about how your grief can be supported by nature, this group is for you. If you are lonely in your grief, this group is for you.
Is there an additional step after I register for the group? Yes. We require that each member schedule a brief, 1-time 5-minute phone call with the facilitator, Tisha, who will contact you upon registration. This policy assures participants are fully informed about the group and have their questions answered.
Do I have to be at a certain level of fitness to participate in this group? No. This group will adjust to the pace of the members. Please note that this trail is unpaved, not level, and has roots and rocks.
What should I wear? Please dress in layers and check the weather before we meet. Don't forget mittens, hats, warm socks. Please bring a small water bottle if you tend to get thirsty easily. A good pair of running shoes will do. If it is raining or has been wet, a rain boot or waterproof shoe may be more comfortable.
Is this group for a particular type of grief? No. This group is for anyone, grieving any type of loss. You may be grieving the death of a loved one, or you may be grieving the loss of a relationship, or perhaps you are grieving the state of the world. All grief experiences are welcome.
Where do I park? In front of the tennis court area.
Where do I go to meet the group? We will gather in front of the tennis courts.
A signed consent and liability release is required to participate in Grounded Grief Walks.
