About the event

Moving Grief Together: An Outdoor Walking Support Group

Sometimes grief needs motion. Sometimes it also needs company.

If grief has been sitting heavy lately—whether from loss, change, loneliness, or simply carrying too much—you’re invited to walk with us. Led by Tisha Washington, MSW, LMSW, these gentle walks offer a space to move, breathe, and be alongside others in a setting where both quiet and conversation are welcome.

As a therapist with Grounded Grief, Tisha brings a deep love for nature and a steady presence to hold what arises. We’ll meet the season as we meet ourselves—just as it is and just as we are.

What to Expect: Each walk includes facilitated introductions, grounding exercises, brief readings, easeful walking, and optional communal sharing. There is no requirement to talk at any time; you are welcome to participate in whatever way feels right for you.

FAQ

What is the suggested donation amount?

Our group is offered to the community as a way to build connection and create a space for grief to exist. The cost to run this group for our organization is $30–$55 per person, per group. Any amount you can donate toward this is so appreciated.

How do I know if this group is for me?

If you are interested in connecting with others and enjoy being outside, this group is for you. If you are curious about how your grief can be supported by nature, or if you feel lonely in your grief, you are welcome here.

Is there an additional step after I register?

Yes. We require each member to schedule a brief, one-time, 5-minute phone call with the facilitator, Tisha, who will contact you upon registration. This policy ensures participants are fully informed and have their questions answered.

Do I have to be at a certain level of fitness to participate?

No. This group will adjust to the pace of the members. Please note that this trail is unpaved and uneven, with natural roots and rocks.

What should I wear?

Please dress in layers and check the weather before we meet. Don't forget mittens, hats, and warm socks for the winter air. A good pair of running shoes will do, but if it is raining or the ground is wet, a rain boot or waterproof shoe may be more comfortable. We also suggest bringing a small water bottle.

Is this group for a particular type of grief?

No. This group is for anyone grieving any type of loss—whether the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, or the state of the world. All grief experiences are welcome.

Where do I park and meet the group?

Park in front of the tennis court area near the clubhouse. We will gather right in front of the tennis courts to begin.
